Prohibited & Dangerous Goods
Zeturn helps you buy postage and print labels from carriers like USPS, UPS and FedEx. What goes inside your parcel is always your responsibility. Please read this before you ship.
You are legally liable for the contents of every parcel you ship, and for declaring, packing and labeling it correctly. Shipping prohibited or undeclared dangerous goods can be a federal offense and may result in fines, prosecution, seized parcels, and cancelled carrier accounts. If you are ever unsure, do not ship it — contact the carrier first.
Never ship these through Zeturn
These items are prohibited on our standard shipping and must never be sent using a Zeturn label. To ship them, work directly with a carrier that offers a proper dangerous-goods service.
- Explosives, fireworks, flares, ammunition or firearms
- Compressed or flammable gases (propane, butane, camping canisters)
- Flammable liquids and solids (gasoline, lighter fluid, paint thinner, matches)
- Dry ice, and other refrigerants above carrier limits
- Toxic, poisonous, corrosive or radioactive substances
- Infectious or biological materials, medical or biohazard waste
- Illegal drugs, and cannabis where not permitted
- Loose or damaged lithium batteries
- Cash, and anything otherwise banned by the carrier or destination
Restricted — allowed only if declared and packed correctly
Some everyday items count as dangerous goods and can usually be shipped by ground, but only when you answer “Yes” to the dangerous-goods question, declare them, and follow the carrier’s packing rules and quantity limits:
- Aerosols and pressurized cans
- Hand sanitizer, and products containing alcohol
- Nail polish, perfume and other fragrances
- Devices with lithium batteries installed (laptop, phone, tablet, camera, earbuds)
- Small quantities of certain cleaning or beauty products
When you buy a label, we ask “Dangerous or hazardous goods? Yes / No.” Answer honestly. Saying “No” when your parcel contains restricted items can void your coverage and make you liable for any damage, delay, fines or injury that result.
Your responsibilities
- Make sure your item is legal to ship to its destination, domestically and internationally.
- Declare dangerous or restricted goods and follow all carrier packing, labeling and quantity rules.
- Comply with all applicable laws and regulations (including US DOT/IATA and destination-country rules).
- Accept full responsibility and liability for the contents of your parcel.
Our role
Zeturn provides the tools to compare rates, buy postage and print labels. We do not inspect, handle or transport your parcels, and we are not the carrier. We may refuse service, cancel a label, or report shipments that appear to breach this policy or the law.
Carrier rules are the final word and can change. Always check the current prohibited-items lists for USPS, UPS and FedEx before shipping.
